Our Process
Our process is a straightforward yet in-depth one. It starts when you reach out:
1. Introductions
In this 15- to 30-minute call, we get to know the institution you serve, its direction and goals, and any challenges or concerns. If we mutually feel that our firm may be able to help, we’ll go on to Step 2. If not, we’re happy to refer you to another advisor that may be a better fit for what you’re looking for.
2. Discovery Meeting
We do a deep dive into your organization’s finances so that we can begin crafting recommendations. We look at assets, liabilities, and income sources, and we make sure to understand the institution’s vision and mission. We’ll be asking a lot of questions at this meeting because the knowledge we gain is the foundation we need to serve your organization well.
3. State of the Institution
We go over what our discovery process found. We show you what we think is working well and what areas could use some attention. Our discussion will delve into potential opportunities, with our entire conversation focused on how we can help preserve and grow your institution’s assets responsibly.
4. Recommendations Meeting
We present our detailed asset management recommendations based on your organization’s financial situation and goals. We cover the Investment Policy Statement, Spending Policy Statement, risk management, and investment management. You’ll receive financial recommendations as needed, plus a timeline for implementation.
5. Make It Official
We haven’t assumed any commitment on your organization’s part. Now, however, is the time to decide whether we are the right investment manager for you. To make the engagement official, you will sign our agreements, and we begin implementing your investment management services.
6. Engagement
We believe that success is best achieved by engaging with you regularly. Together, we set up a schedule of reviews and conversations that are customized to your needs. Each of our discussions centers on how to continue steady progress toward your organization’s investment goals.
An Evidence-Based Approach to Investing
Your investment management services are tailored to your organization’s goals. We work with nonprofit organizations, endowments, foundations, and associations to provide ongoing investment management that helps preserve and build assets and meet objectives.
We’re not here to risk everything your organization has built with the latest hot stock. We focus on a prudent, evidence-based approach to investment management.
Your portfolio allocation will be selected and managed based on Nobel Prize-winning economic research and dimensions of expected returns. These dimensions draw on history to help determine the companies that are most likely to be successful over time and lead to higher portfolio returns.
We believe a sensible, cost-effective approach such as ours provides a higher likelihood of achieving the returns needed to meet your organization’s needs and goals.
